From the Battle of Thermopylae 480 years before the birth of Christ. King Leonidas of Sparta lead 300 Spartans and 700 Thespian volunteers solders in a delaying action against the Persian empire, And held back the entire. Persian empire for thirteen days.
The 1st Battle of Thermopylae was Made famous in the 1962 movie The 300 Spartans, staring Richard Egan & Ralph Richardson. Also the 2006 movie 300 was loosely based on the battle of Thermopylae .
Now you can own a reproduction of Spartan shields. That may have been carried almost 2500 years ago by Spartan solders at The 1st Battle of Thermopylae. Embossed with Lamba (an upside down V) short for Lacedaemon Sparta’s old name. This adult sized shield is 24 inch wide made of aged steal with a thick poly coating on the front. The back has an arm strap and a hand grip.
